Latitude 44 Lyra 11'4" SUP
The Lyra's dimensions and shape were labored over, tweaked here and there for hydrodynamic efficiency, drag minimization, stability, and desired experience on the water. It's amazing how paying attention to physics can result in an object that one intuitively knows is beautiful in both form and function.
The Lyra was designed for the paddler on the lighter side, but really anyone under 180 lbs. is going to love this board. If you are under 150 lbs., the Lyra is absolutely the way to go.
Like the Orion, the Lyra’s 11’4 x 30”x 6.5” dimensions are only one part of many that add together to make the board fast and easy to paddle. While the Lyra could certainly be raced, this board’s 30” width (carried in a long gradual taper to the blunt back) allows it to avoid the tippy feeling of a typical race board. The Lyra is stable so that you can put your full strength into your paddle stroke. The Lyra paddles exceptionally well on flat water, but thanks to its shallow rocker design, it’s equally at home in some offshore chop. The 11’4” length of the Lyra allows easy handling on the water and extremely quick speed. Notice that the Lyra has a lot going on with its shape. Volume is pushed into the top side of the nose which, in turn, allows the deck area to be recessed and carried thin to the back of the board – which aids stability. Brilliant. The croc-skin textured foam deck pad keeps your toes comfy for the distance and provides the grip to keep you secure even under the most aggressive paddling sessions.
The sum of these parts is the beautiful Lyra. There’s an air of superiority about the Lyra that we like and that we think is well deserved for its class. Fast and stable with an easy efficiency over the water. We are confident you'll love the glide on this board as much as we do.
The graphics on the Orion are so new school art – fresh and bold, no clutter. The airbrushed matt finish perfectly complements the board. We are smitten.
The Lyra is a fun board to paddle and to show off. Its shape is decidedly sexy with a red dress that’s on the racy side, but not so much that you need to hide it from your mother. What more can one ask for? A cold beer waiting on shore would be good for sure, but that’s about it.
Your best days on the water are waiting. Get some sun and keep your swimsuit on!

Great race-style board/Heavier than expected
This board is sturdy, fast, and comfortable. I bought it after testing three different lightweight, rigid boards and it seemed to be the goldilocks. Unfortunately, it turned out to be too awkward for me to lift onto my vehicle. When I called the shop to discuss the problem, Rob was committed to making me a happy customer. We discussed solutions and he made me an offer that was more than fair. I recommend this board if you have the upper body strength to lift it over your head after an afternoon of paddling in the sun!
